Baile Cimarrón refers to our maroon ancestors who sought refuge and sanctuary in the wilderness from oppression.
ABOUT US
Baile Cimarrón Cultural Institute will provide a safe space to learn the dance traditions of our African ancestors, and Afrodescendent brothers and sisters from Latin America.
We will be learning from a variety of dance professionals who carry these traditions from throughout the region, starting with Cuba.
We welcome you to join us in celebrating Freedom through dance as was inherited from our ancestors. In doing this, we continue to create freedom for those who come after us.

OUR MISSION
Baile Cimarrón is a safe and nurturing home for the stewards of Afrolatin cultural expression.
We recognize that Music and Dance were acts of liberation gifted to us by our African ancestors.
Through Education and acts of togetherness, we will carry on their legacy of liberation by:
1. Teaching – delivering dance and music classes to members of the community
2. Training – delivering workshops to professional dancers and musicians
3. Community Engagement – participation in cultural festivals and civic events
4. Celebration – hosting cultural events
